I've recently started playing pokemon games again, and I'm rediscovering the fun of them. As I've got back into it, I've learned one big thing:
I LOVE MONOTYPE
For the unaware, Monotype is the term referring to when every Pokemon on a team shares a single type in common. For example, a team where every member is either a plain Water type, or some type combination including Water. This was likely popularized by the in-game Gym leaders, and are notorious for being very bad and unbalanced because you give every single one of your Pokemon the same weakness, and then they all fall to the same move spammed over and over. But I've recently found the idea of specializing in a type to be really cool, and I've began to play more and more Pokemon games aiming to be the very best wielder of a specific type.
So instead of Nuzlockes, I've decided to tackle these various games by playing them as monotype runs of various types. My personal favorite is the Ground type, which was my first monotype run when I finished vanilla Pokemon Platinum. From there I've delved into some rom hacks, both just to try them out, and to try out monotype runs.
This is where I intend to share my stories. The pitfalls, the strategies, the advantages, and how I manage to make a robust and diverse team where every single mon shares a type.
I'm generally assuming people reading this have a general understanding of pokemon, but I'd be more than happy to make a page to explain stuff if people want that sort of thing.
